Tamar G. McLachlan, MSW, brings to coaching an excitement and enthusiasm for
supporting others in reaching their goals. She is uniquely skilled in
understanding obstacles and creating strategies that allow her clients to
move past barriers in order to achieve success. Her professional training in
psychology and 10 years of experience in group negotiation, conflict
management and strategic development give her a deep understanding of
individuals and teams. Her diverse professional background includes clinical
social work, legal advocacy, group facilitation, administration and policy.
The thrill of working with clients, locally and internationally, to
achieve their highest potential is a driving force in Ms. McLachlan's work.
Her excellent skills in team building, communication and problem solving
allow her to approach new challenges from a creative perspective. A passion
for exploring various cultures led Ms. McLachlan to embark on a year-long
trip of travel to and writing about 27 countries. She left the security of
home, job and stability to take a risk for adventure. Her extensive travel
experience gives Ms. McLachlan a strong understanding of a variety of
cultures. Her passion for cultural exploration enables her to work well with
groups internationally. The ability to meet challenges allows Ms. McLachlan
to support her clients in leaping over their own hurdles.
Ms. McLachlan holds a Master's in Social Work from Simmons College, in
Boston. She obtained a B.A. in English from Tufts University, in
Massachusetts, where she concentrated in Sociology, Theatre and Child
Development. Ms. McLachlan's coaching training includes graduation from the
Coaches Training Institute in California, the world's largest non-profit and
accredited coach training organization and continuous work with Mentorcoach
in Bethesda, Maryland.
An avid interest in outdoor adventure, mountaineering and rock climbing
has led to successful summits of Huyana Potosi, Bolivia (19,973 ft), Mt
Rainier, WA (14,400ft), Mt Shasta, CA (14,162ft), Kalapatar, Nepal
(18,200ft) as well as trekking and backpacking throughout the world. Over
the past decade, Ms. McLachlan has enjoyed leading team building backpacking
trips, ropes course work and outdoor adventure programs in Massachusetts and
California. Other favorite endeavors include: ice climbing in New Zealand,
rock climbing in Thailand, bareboat sailing in the Caribbean and backpacking
in Yosemite National Park.
